Tune It Yourself - Support / Troubleshooting

Instructions

Below you will find separate setup instructions for linking Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 4 or Forza Horizon 5 to Tune It Yourself.

Tune It Yourself - Forza Motorsport 7 Interface Setup

The Forza Motorsport 7 racing simulator by Turn 10 Studios / Microsoft Studios uses UDP to transmit its telemetry to 3rd party applications such as Tune It Yourself. By default this telemetry output is disabled. You will need to turn it on to be able to use Tune It Yourself with Forza Motorsport 7.

Important Notice

Please make sure you have the Forza Motorsport September 10th 2018 patch (1.142.2737.2) or newer

Enabling Forza Motorsport 7 telemetry output on XBox1 or PC

  • Select "Options" from the main menu

  • Select "HUD".

setup1.jpg
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the HUD options

  • Set "DATA OUT" to "On"

  • Set "DATA OUT IP ADDRESS" to the IP address of your mobile device as shown in Tune It Yourself (It is recommended that you use the Setup and Test Connection option in Tune It Yourself)

  • Set "DATA OUT IP PORT" to "20127"

  • Set "DATA OUT PACKET FORMAT" to "CAR DASH"

The below image is an example from the Tune It Yourself "Setup and Test Connection" page. The IP address shown below is just an example, your IP will likely be different. The most common IP ranges you would expect to see are 192.168.x.x and 10.0.x.x

tiysetup.jpg

If you intend to use multiple telemetry related mobile apps on multiple devices at the same time, you will need to change just the last number in your DATA OUT IP ADDRESS to 255 which means broadcast.  (eg 10.0.0.255 in the example above). It is recommended that you setup a single device first without using broadcast mode to make sure everything is working correctly, then you can give broadcast mode a try. Please note though that some Android devices and some wifi routers may have trouble processing the telemetry when using the broadcast IP address. If you are experiencing lag with your telemetry or no telemetry at all, please use the full IP address shown in Tune It Yourself and do not modify it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The mobile device you run Tune It Yourself on and your gaming device that your run FM7 on must be connected to the same internal network. You can tell if they are on the same internal network by checking that the first three numbers in the IP address are the same on both devices. For example, both devices have an IP of 192.168.100.xx where the xx is different on each device. Another example might be 10.0.0.xx where the xx is different on each device. If any of those first three numbers are different, then it means that the devices are on different networks and they will not be able to communicate. The most common cause for this is that one device is connected to your internal network and the other is connected to your guest wifi network, instead of your internal wifi network.

XBOX USERS NOTE: If you are playing Forza and then you decide to switch to another application (eg YouTube) or you turn your XBox off and it goes into sleep mode then the game will stop sending its telemetry. When your switch back to Forza or wake your XBox from sleep mode, it will not automatically resume sending telemetry data. You must restart Forza to get it to send its telemetry again.

Tune It Yourself - Forza Horizon 4 Interface Setup

The Forza Horizon 4 racing simulator by Turn 10 Studios / Microsoft Studios uses UDP to transmit its telemetry to 3rd party applications such as Tune It Yourself. By default this telemetry output is disabled. You will need to turn it on to be able to use Tune It Yourself with Forza Horizon 4.

KNOWN ISSUE: (Last verified 8th June 2022) Forza Horizon 4 telemetry does not currently work on the new "XBox Series S" or "XBox Series X" consoles. This is a known issue and requires a game patch to address this. Search https://support.forzamotorsport.net/hc/en-us/articles/360001991068-FH4-Known-Issues for the word "telemetry" for the latest on this issue. If you see "Data Out Telemetry is not working on Xbox Series X|S." still listed, then it has not yet been fixed by the FH4 developers.  FH4 telemetry does work on the previous generation consoles (ie XBox One).

Enabling Forza Horizon 4 telemetry output on XBox1 or PC
